Do you need a transit visa for Mongolia?
Citizens of Finland, Sweden and Norway travel to Mongolia visa-free for tourism for up to 30 days, the exemption is in force until 31 December 2026. For most rail travellers, passing through or a short stop in Ulaanbaatar therefore needs no visa. A transit visa or another visa is needed when the exemption does not cover you: for example as a citizen of another country, for a non-tourism purpose, or once the exemption ends. The transit visa is issued for a passage of up to 10 days and requires an onward train or flight ticket, plus the next country's visa where applicable. We check what your specific trip requires based on your route and citizenship.

Documents
Passport (valid at least 6 months at the start of travel), a photo and onward tickets. We check everything before applying.

We complete the application and handle the process, Mongolia issues e-visas online, and Finland is served by Mongolia's embassy in Stockholm.
